Ranking System for the District 6 Dual Meet Tournament
100 points for a WIN over a Class AAA opponent
80 points for a WIN over a Class AA opponent (Bonus Points)
120 points for a WIN over a Class AAA opponent
100 points for a WIN over a Class AA opponent (Bonus Points)
Team A picks up 10 points for every win its opponent earns, Provided that Team A has defeated that opponent. There will be no power points if a team loses to any team. Example: Hollidaysburg (AAA) defeats Altoona (AAA) with a 2-2 record. Hollidaysburg receives 100 points for the victory, plus 20 Power Points because Altoona has recorded 2 wins.
Example 2: Central Cambria (AA) defeats Greater Johnstown (AAA) (0-5 record). Central Cambria will get the 100 points for the win (plus the 20 Bonus points for beating an opponent in a higher classification), but will receive no Power Points since Greater Johnstown has no wins to date. Central Cambria will still get 10 points for any win that Greater Johnstown may pick up throughout the year.
Due to the fact that some teams wrestle more matches than other teams, this could result in an unfair advantage to the team with fewer matches. Because of this, a Percentage Point System was added in 2005 to determine the Dual Meet qualifying teams. We will continue to use this system this season.
A team will receive 50 Strength Points if they lose to a team with a winning record (.500 or better) Ie. If Philipsburg-Osceola loses to Bellefonte (15-3 record), Philipsburg-Osceola will receive 50 Strength Points.
After all the points have been totaled, the number of points will be divided by the total number of matches to tabulate the Percentage Points for each team. That total will, ultimately, be used to seed the top teams for the District Duals. The twelve (12) Class AA teams with the highest Percentage Points will qualify for the District Class AA Dual Meet Tournament. The four (4) Class AAA teams with the highest Percentage Points will qualify for the District Class AAA Dual Meet Tournament.
If, per chance, there is a tie, a tie-breaker system will be utilized.
